Partial extension on the second floor. Two rooms with bathroom are Sr. Shanthi's request: the extension on the upper floor would have a dual purpose: to be able to increase the number of girls up to a maximum of 30 and to be able to accommodate groups of guests/visitors, including male ones, as the new area it would be totally separate from the girls' dormitory and with its own bathrooms.
The ideal time for these works would be during the school break (April/May 2024) and with Sr Shanthi still present before her normal rotation planned by her superiors as a regular practice.
She is looking for good builder who uses good material and insulation/sheathing to protect from monsoon rains.
Potable water.The village authorities are extending the water pipes to our area/street. Currently the building uses a borewell which however often draws salt water. To produce potable water we installed a filtering system that still works. However, given the high salinity, the filters must be replaced regularly and a lot of water is wasted to obtain a portion of drinking water. Since the building is now regularly registered, we will apply for a municipality water connection. The pipes connection cost from the gate/meter to the building would be borne by us. However, borewell water would continue to be used for irrigation, washing and cooking while municipal water would only be used for drinking, greatly reducing future bills.
We are waiting for estimates for both projects to evaluate their costs and implementation.
